Happy New Year!
The dust of exploded beliefs may make a fine sunset. — Geoffrey Madan
This may come as a bit of a shock to those of you who know what an early adopter I am, but I JUST got my iPhone. Like 20 minutes ago. I haven’t even opened the box, just walked in the door and flipped open my MacBook so that I could let you know how giddy I am to have a new toy. GIDDY.
So, it’s New Year’s Eve. Don’t forget, for those of you who don’t go to sleep tonight, to tune in to Chip’s morning show tomorrow, because I’ll be chatting with him at some point for a few minutes about our predictions for the year to come. If you’re still looking for something to do tonight, Chip is hosting a New Year’s Eve Comedy show at the Comedy Palace.
Me, I’m staying close to home, as I mentioned in my last post. I like to avoid the hordes of drunkards on what Ollie calls “amateur night.” So it’s dinner at Kensington Grill, which was the menu that seemed most appealing to my tastes. I don’t do fancy crap, and everyone does it up for this night, all oysters and caviar, and well, ew. After dinner, it’s back here to tie one (or two) on. As if I wasn’t sloshed enough last night. And I hardly had a thing to drink! One flight of three different wines (not huge, but decent pours in small glasses) and one normal sized glass, also a decent pour, at Wine Steals. I was out with an old, old friend (like met her in 6th grade old), whom I haven’t really spent time with since high school, and we had a great time catching up. It wasn’t until I got home (thank goodness I walked) that I realized how tipsy I was. See, I drank on an empty stomach before having some nibbles of cheese and bread. David, apparently, thought I was hilarious. Apparently, I wanted to “kiss him with my teeth,” and he had fun avoiding my choppers. Huh. Well, at least he thinks whatever I did was cute, instead of horrifying, see, things could be worse.
One a reflective note, 2007 was a great year for me, marked by travel. In 2007 I spent time in Japan, Sweden, Italy, France, Netherlands, and too many European and American cities to list without becoming monotonous. I am looking at 2008 as being the year I make a leap of progress in my career, which seems to be inching upwards as new opportunities present themselves to me. Regardless of time, I am so unbelievably appreciative for the life I live and the people I am lucky enough to live it with. David is my sunshine, my friends are sparkling stars, my family is the solid earth beneath my feet, and they all help to fill my life with a wealth beyond measure.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!
