Gorgeous Saturday
This morning the birds were out in full force, little hummingbirds with shiny red heads, tiny brown birds (you can tell I spend a lot of time studying the Audubon guide), tweeting and searching for a place to make their nests for Spring, right outside my bedroom window. The sun was shining, the air was cool, it was a perfect, Disney-esque way to awake on a Saturday after a busy week. And it WAS busy!
Wednesay night I went to the Legit Radio party down at the Tractor Room. I was among the first to show up (I usually am), and was apprehensive as I approached to see all of the streetlights, and every building in a several-block radius, completely out. Still, I found a parking spot and entered the Tractor Room, which was still open! They were awesome to keep their doors open and serve the huge crowd cocktails by candlelight. It was hours before the power came back on. In fact, I left before the power came back on. David and I kidnapped Robin Roth and took her to Starlite, where we could sit and chat over a burger.
The night before (that’s right, like an indie film, I do shit out of order), I went to a Femme Domme dinner (that’s dominant women and the people who love them). Because I’m a dominant woman. Go ahead, ask around, it’s true. It was all right. Meeting people is much easier at a stand-up party than a sit-down dinner. When it comes to dinners, or getting-to-know-you type situations, I much prefer a smaller crowd. Which is why I invited a small crowd from the dinner (at which I didn’t eat, because I don’t care much for that particular chain restaurant’s food) back to my place for some wine and cheese (the typical fare at chez Barb & Dave). And now to yesterday, which was… Friday? Yes, Friday…
I dropped in on Robin at the radio station and hung out for the full hour of her show. I dig her taste in music, and we had a lot of fun hamming it up for the web cam. And now, this beautiful weekend! I realize, now that’s I’m knee-deep in Saturday, that I didn’t do much planning for the weekend, I don’t feel organized. I have a meeting this afternoon, a special guest coming over for dinner tonight, but after that, just floating. Tomorrow, I need to figure out what I’m going to write about for my next column. David will be in L.A., so I’ll have the day to work (or dick off). For now, think I’ll go putz around with the jigsaw puzzle in the other room. I can always get organized later. Right?
