Rainy fun!

First things first, this morning I did another segment of Stepping Out With Barbarella on NBC/KNSD News in the Morning, which you can watch right here:

That’s always a lot of fun, I love working on the segments, making the videos, and then, of course, appearing in studio. Even if I had to fight through hurricane-ish winds and rain to get there this morning. And here I am, two weeks behind on an update again. Last week, my column was extra naughty. It’s called A WAY WITH WORDS, all about my dirty, dirty mouth. And this week, hot off the presses, is my story about my cousin Fergal, whom I’m ecstatic to have found. I called it FINDING FERGAL. There’s a video of the man himself embedded on the column page. And as always, your comments on the stories are welcome! Please add your thoughts at the bottom of each story on my column’s page. If you want. Now for some personal updates…

This past weekend was more social for me than most. Friday night, did a ladies’ night for a friend’s birthday — good food, wine, and conversation. Saturday, I went to see my friends play at the Casbah (in the band Little White Teeth), and then out to dinner with some other peeps at Cucina Urbana. Sunday was psychotic. First I went to Old Town to capture the footage for that video I made for NBC (which you can see above), then I drove to San Marcos to celebrate my nephew’s birthday with the fam; after dinner with family, I headed to Starlite in Mission Hills to meet with some writers, and finally, ended my evening at the Waterfront in Little Italy to visit with my friend Kristen, who was in from out of town (and bummed I missed her, think she headed back east today). Speaking of back east! One of my articles was syndicated in the Fairfield Weekly, out of Connecticut. They titled it (and I like the title) ELECTRONIC VEIL. And I just found out that Kristen is published in the same paper!! What a small world.

Weather has been crazy in southern California, and I’m loving every minute of it. Last night, I sat in my office as the sun set behind clouds and watched the rain fall against the window until it was dark enough for me to see the reflection of the candles on my desk flickering in the droplets. I love it, I absolutely love it. Then David and I went to Saigon on Fifth for some delicious soup. I love that place, they don’t use grease in their soups, just bright fresh veggies and lean meats, without all that gristly shit you get at other places. The word I use is “clean,” it’s “clean” food, meaning fresh and not laden with oils. I’m wordy today. Fortunately, most of my crunch work is done, so today and tomorrow I can relax a bit and simply enjoy the rain.
