Busy Ms. B

Jesus, that was a whirlwind. Every morning and night, so this is why the time flies so fast. Next thing I know, it’s Thursday. And, as it is Thursday, I have a new column out, a fun one, if I may say so myself (and I did), all about guns. It’s called BANG BANG, about my experience handling a gun (and then a bunch of them) for the first time. Warning, I make fun of gun-toters in this story, just a little bit. And I’m really happy with this little video, and hope you enjoy it:

So! This week, what have I been doing? On Tuesday night I was one of the judges at America’s Lip Sync Start contest, which will end with one person receiving $100,000 in cash and prizes. Bootie booyah. I leave town next week, though, so I can’t judge every week (a total of 8 weeks I believe), but I’m planning to come back and judge the finals. Finals are more fun anyway, right? The contest is being held at Cane’s on Tuesday nights, if you want to see some crazy performances, head on over there. Because of this whole out-of-town thing, I am also on hiatus for the NBC spot, but will be bringing it back when I return in July. Where am I going? The snooty answer is the Hamptons and then Martha’s Vineyard. The reality is my aunts’ and then my in-laws. The reality is also that I am REALLY looking forward to getting out of town and spending some downtime with family in a couple of high-profile but essentially small towns.

This morning, I was TORTURED at Java Mama’s, or “breastfeeding cafe” as my friend Sarah dubbed it. Coffee shop for moms and small children. It’s exactly how you imagine it. Perfect for their target audience, not so great for a childless germaphobe. But at least I got to see my sister and one of my nieces, and that’s always a joy. Tomorrow night there’s going to be a little soiree down at Jett Gallery, so if you’re around between 6 and 10 p.m., come have a glass of wine. All I really want to do is go see Star Trek or Up in the theater, but not sure where to find the time. Maybe I can make some. If I were more organized, maybe, it would be easier, but perfection is boring anyway, right? So I’ll continue with my slap-dash approach to time management.

A little side note for those of you who may not know, but on FB I’m “Barbarella Fokos” and on Twitter I’m “Barbarellaf.” So if you haunt those sites, please add me! Yes, I’m making outright requests for virtual friendship. And? ;)
